If you know someone who needs but can not afford an eye exam and glasses, or a hearing exam and hearing aids, we may be able to help.

In 1925 Helen Keller challenged the fledgling Lions Clubs to become "Knights of the Blind", and to help eradicate preventable blindness.  The Moses Lake Lions Club supports this challenge at several levels.

We provide individual assistance to members of our community to the utmost of our ability to do so.  If you or someone you know needs help:

2. The application may be completed online and then printed , or printed and filled out by hand.  We regret that at this time applications can not be submitted electronically.  Please complete all sections - missing information will delay the processing of your application.

The application will be reviewed, the information verified, and a recommendation made to our Board of Directors.  If we can help, we will.  Even if we can not provide direct assistance we will probably be able to steer you to other programs and organizations that can help.

We contribute to the Northwest Lions Foundation for Sight Hearing, which operates one of the leading eye banks in the nation. It also partners with Lions Clubs in Washington and Northern Idaho to help them accomplish sight and hearing missions in their own communities - one neighbor at a time

We collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids.  These are sent to the Northwest Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center and distributed free of charge to needy individuals worldwide.  Eyeglass recycling boxes are located in many area businesses, or you can give them to any Lions member or drop them off at the Moses Lake Senior Center.  See our Recycling Page for a list of drop-box locations.

We support Campaign SightFirst, a multi-year, world-wide effort sponsored by Lions Clubs International.  SightFirstII grants fight preventable and reversible blindness by building hospitals and clinics, training doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers, distributing medicine and raising awareness of eye disease. The program fights the major causes of blindness: cataract, river blindness, trachoma, and, especially in developed nations like the United States, diabetic eye disease and glaucoma.
